Our Mono SuperHub shelter at Court Drive, Dunstable, was named in a Westminster debate on bus stop standards, with MP Alex Mayer pointing to it as one of the examples behind her case for a National Bus Stop Standard.
Mayer, who represents Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard, told the debate: “I want brilliant bus stops that offer a promise of a great journey,” citing Court Drive alongside the University of East Anglia’s shelters in Norwich as examples of modern, accessible bus stop design.
Roads minister Justin Madders acknowledged the case for greater consistency, but noted that England’s 330,000 bus stops range from busy urban interchanges to lightly used rural stops, meaning any standard would need to flex to fit. Work is already underway with Campaign for Better Transport, which named Court Drive a Star Bus Stop in its own 2024 report, to develop guidance setting minimum requirements across the nation’s bus stop.
